Richmond, VA – Matoaca High School’s quarterback and athlete, Kush Phillip-El, has been making a name in the high school football scene. Standing at 6 feet tall and weighing 170 pounds, Phillip-El has been dedicated to football since his early years. "I started playing when I was 6 years old," he shared. "Watching NFL games made me want to play football."

Training is a crucial part of Phillip-El's routine, and he often goes beyond the high school regimen to stay in top form. "I workout by myself most of the time, but I do train with Brock Waters," he explained. This combination of solo and guided training has helped him maintain peak physical condition.

Phillip-El's recruiting process is progressing smoothly, with his name gaining traction among college scouts. "The process is going good," he said. "I just try to get my name out there as much as possible." His proactive approach includes attending various camps and exposure events, which have been vital in showcasing his talent.

This past offseason, Phillip-El put in substantial work to prepare for the upcoming football season. "I went to 7-on-7 camps at Duke and Penn State and a couple of exposure camps. I have been training hard this offseason," he detailed. These experiences have not only sharpened his skills but also provided him with valuable exposure.

With the new season on the horizon, Phillip-El has set ambitious goals for himself and his team. "I want to win a state championship this year," he declared. "I think we have the team to do it; we just have to make sure we work hard." His confidence in his team’s abilities is evident, and his leadership will be pivotal in their quest for the title.

Outside of football, Phillip-El enjoys a balanced life with various interests. "I like to listen to music and play video games like Madden and NCAA 25," he shared. These hobbies provide a much-needed break from his rigorous training schedule, allowing him to unwind and recharge.

As the season approaches, all eyes will be on Kush Phillip-El and the Matoaca High School football team. With his dedication, skill, and leadership, Phillip-El is poised to make a significant impact and lead his team to potential state championship glory.
