Florida’s 2028 class features some serious talent, and one name rising fast is Asher Ghioto, a dominant 6’5”, 235-pound defensive end from The Bolles School in Jacksonville. With over 25 Division I scholarship offers, Ghioto has cemented himself as one of the nation’s premier young defenders.

Ghioto’s football journey started early—very early.

“I started playing tackle football at the age of 4,” he shared. “Herschel Walker inspired me to play the sport and is the reason I wear 34 still to this day.”

That dedication has translated into a tireless work ethic. In the offseason, Ghioto works with Jerrian Sanders at B3Better to improve explosiveness and agility. He also hones his skills with Aaron ‘Tank’ Jones and Ronnie Mason for D-line training, while Coach Roundtree helps him build strength in the weight room.

That preparation fuels big goals for the upcoming season.

“My personal goal is to double my sacks, double my TFLs, and break 100 tackles this season,” Ghioto said. “For the team, the goal is to win a state championship.”

Recruiting-wise, Ghioto is in a great position, receiving offers from some of the nation’s top programs. While he remains open in the process, he’s paying close attention to how schools pursue him.

“It means a lot being early on in the process and getting all of this very early is definitely a blessing,” he said. “I would say schools that stand out the most are the ones that make an effort to get me there and how they treat me on campus. It’s a bit too early to say for sure, but I have a good idea of a top five.”

Off the field, Ghioto stays grounded, valuing friendships and a life beyond football.

“I don’t like talking about my achievements or anything that has to do with football outside of my sports life,” he said. “I like people getting to know me beyond that. Because once you get recognition, people can come at you for the wrong reasons, so you have to be careful.”

When he’s not training or dominating on the field, Ghioto enjoys going to the gym, hitting the beach, running, and gaming with friends.

As the 2028 season approaches, one thing is clear—Asher Ghioto is just getting started, and the best is yet to come.
