At 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds, 2028 4-star safety CJ Craig-James of Parker High School is quickly emerging as one of Alabama’s most intriguing defensive prospects. With a long frame, natural athleticism, and a rapidly growing skill set, Craig-James is turning heads on the recruiting trail while staying grounded in the journey that got him here.

His love for the game began early, rooted in family and tradition. “I first started playing football when I was 5yrs old, my Dad would play catch with me and take me to my big cousin games who is about 6 yrs older than me and currently plays for Univ of Tennessee,” he shared. That early exposure helped spark a passion that continues to drive him. “Knowing that the game of football can open so many doors to set me and my family up for life is what motivates me to keep going.”

Craig-James has been intentional about his development, training with some of the best to sharpen his craft. “I train with former Alabama defensive back Justin Woodall, he’s the best around when it comes to training defensive backs,” he said. With clear goals in mind, he’s focused on physical growth and speed. “I want to gain about 10lbs this offseason and get faster.”

That work is already paying off. Once unranked, Craig-James has surged into 4-star status, a milestone that reflects both his talent and dedication. “It means so much to me especially being unranked 365 days ago. It’s motivating me to want to be a 5 star this time next year!” he said, showing the hunger that separates good prospects from great ones.

Recruiting has followed his rise, bringing attention from some of the nation’s top programs. “It’s been crazy so far. So many schools to narrow down but if I had to give you some of my top ones right now they’re Florida, Ohio State, Bama, Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Miami,” Craig-James explained. Each program offers a unique opportunity, and his recruitment is only expected to heat up as he continues to develop.

Off the field, Craig-James is just as dynamic. “Outside of football I’m just as good in basketball. Maybe hoping to play both in college. I’m very family oriented,” he said. That balance between athletics and personal values adds another layer to a prospect who already brings plenty to the table.

With size, versatility, and a relentless mindset, CJ Craig-James is a name to know in the 2028 class. As he continues to chase his goals and elevate his game, don’t be surprised to see his stock climb even higher in the months ahead.
