Powhatan High School's football team has found a standout in their midst with the emergence of 6'2", 190-pound wide receiver Ben Whitver. Despite his relatively young age, Whitver's journey into football has been one marked by determination and passion, evident in his electrifying performances on the field. In an exclusive interview, Whitver shared insights into his football journey, his training regimen, and his aspirations for the future.

"I always had to keep up with my older brothers who played sports," Whitver reminisced. "I waited to start football until you could hit, and when I finally did, I fell in love with the game." His natural athleticism, honed through chasing after his older siblings, translated into early success on the gridiron, with Whitver making a name for himself as a prolific scorer from an early age.

In addition to the guidance of his high school coaches, Whitver credits a team of specialists for honing his skills. "I work with Coach Kytwan Heath, Billy McMullin, and Timone Brown for Wide Receiver training," he revealed. "And Chris Gorres helps me with Strength and Agility." Beyond football, Whitver has dabbled in various sports, including soccer, rugby, basketball, and track, showcasing his versatility and athleticism across disciplines.

With college recruiters taking notice of his talent, Whitver is navigating the intricate process of selecting the right fit for his collegiate career. "I've garnered interest from several colleges," he disclosed. "From Liberty University to ODU, and upcoming visits to ECU's Spring Game and Duke's camp, the options are promising." With aspirations to commit before the end of his junior year, Whitver is poised to make a significant impact at the collegiate level.

As he gears up for the upcoming football season, Whitver remains focused on perfecting his craft. "I'm training hard with my team and coaches to be the best WR I can be," he affirmed. With ambitions of a deep postseason run, Whitver's dedication to his craft and team success is unwavering.

Beyond the gridiron, Whitver finds fulfillment in his community involvement and personal interests. From supporting a friend battling cancer to assisting with his family's business, Whitver exemplifies a well-rounded individual. "I enjoy spending time outdoors, fishing, playing basketball, and of course, gaming," he shared. With a penchant for rap music and a fondness for Rainbow 6 Siege, Whitver's diverse interests complement his prowess on the football field.

As Ben Whitver continues to make strides in his football career, his journey serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes and a testament to the power of dedication and passion in achieving one's dreams. With his eyes set on the future, Whitver is poised to leave an indelible mark on the gridiron and beyond.
