Franklin’s Zander McCracken: The Next Big Name in Maryland Quarterback Play
Standing at 6’1” and 210 pounds, Franklin High School’s Zander McCracken is quickly making a name for himself as one of Maryland’s top quarterbacks in the Class of 2026. With a strong arm, quick feet, and an even sharper mind for the game, McCracken is preparing to take his game to the next level.
McCracken’s football journey started at a young age, inspired by a family legacy.
“I started playing when I was 5 years old and was inspired to play by my dad, who played collegiately,” he said. That early start has shaped him into a leader under center, and he’s now drawing attention from college programs.
This offseason, McCracken is putting in the work to elevate his game.
“I participate in our team weight training three times a week for my strength training. I also do my speed/agility training three times a week with @PJ_AccelU. My quarterback training is 1-2 times a week with @CoachAaronRHA,” he explained.
The results are starting to show, and so is the recruiting interest.
“My recruitment is starting to pick up. I have been invited to numerous junior days and camps,” McCracken said. “I am looking for a school with high academic standards and a good football program with a winning culture.”
Beyond the gridiron, McCracken is just like most teenagers.
“Outside of football and school, I like to do what most kids my age do. I usually hang out with friends or my family or play games when I have free time.”
However, there’s one thing about him that might surprise people.
“I play guitar,” he revealed, adding another layer to his personality beyond football.
As McCracken continues to develop, expect his name to pop up more in recruiting circles. With a relentless work ethic and a vision for success, the Franklin quarterback is on track to make a significant impact at the next level.
