In the heart of Texas, Carthage High School has become the breeding ground for promising young talents, and 2026 4-Star running back KJ Edwards is no exception. Standing at 5'9" and weighing in at 165 pounds, this young athlete is making headlines not only for his skills on the field but also for his remarkable journey off it.

Early Passion Ignited by Family:
KJ's journey into the world of football began at a tender age, around 5 or 6 years old. When asked about his early start, he reminisces, "I started playing football around the age of 5 or 6, and what inspired me to start playing the sport was my dad." It's a story we often hear - a father's love for the game, passed down to his son, setting the stage for what would become an impressive career.

Guidance from Dedicated Coaches:
While natural talent is essential, the guidance of knowledgeable coaches can elevate a player's potential. KJ acknowledges the instrumental role of his coaches, saying, "Coach Horsley and Coach Surratt were the ones helping me from the beginning so I could understand everything about the game and what I needed to do on the field." These early mentors played a crucial role in shaping his skills and football IQ.

Recruiting Journey Full of Promise:
KJ's recruiting journey is nothing short of impressive. As a freshman in high school, he has already garnered interest from several reputable programs. He mentions, "My recruiting journey has been awesome, especially being recruited at just a freshman in high school." Schools such as Texas Tech, UTSA, SMU, Nebraska, Sam Houston, Houston/UH, Texas, and Baylor have all shown interest and offered him a spot. It's a testament to his potential and the bright future that awaits him in college football.

4-Star Ranking: A Testament to Hard Work:
Recently being named a four-star athlete is an achievement that KJ Edwards takes great pride in. When asked about this accolade, he humbly states, "It feels great knowing that I'm a 4-star athlete, and my ranking shows my hard work has paid off, but there is still more work to be done." This determination and commitment to improvement bode well for his future.

Balancing Act Beyond the Field:
While football dominates his life, KJ also finds time for other interests and hobbies. "Outside of football, I like to play a little bit of video games now and then, and I'm also involved in track, which I had a great year in last year." This balance between sports and leisure activities showcases his well-rounded approach to life.

As KJ Edwards continues to rise in the football world, his journey remains a source of inspiration for aspiring young athletes. With the support of his family, dedicated coaches, and a relentless work ethic, he's poised to leave a lasting mark not only on the Texas high school football scene but also on the college gridiron in the years to come.
