In a much-anticipated decision, 4-Star Wide Receiver and Defensive Back Marcellus Barnes Jr. has officially announced his commitment to Virginia Tech. The young athlete, currently attending McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, has carefully considered his options before making this significant choice. When asked about the factors that influenced his decision, Barnes Jr. expressed his admiration for the Virginia Tech community and the undeniable impact of the coaching staff. In his own words, he explained, "I honestly loved the community and the feeling the entire coaching staff gave me. I wanted to pick a school that would benefit me on and off the field. Virginia Tech definitely can do that."

Looking ahead, Barnes Jr. believes that his commitment to Virginia Tech will be instrumental in his personal and athletic growth during his high school football career. Recognizing the weight carried by a Virginia Tech degree, he firmly stated, "I believe my commitment will set me up for a great life after football. A Virginia Tech degree holds a lot of weight. It will definitely prepare me for life after football."

To prepare himself academically and athletically for the upcoming challenges and opportunities at Virginia Tech, Barnes Jr. has taken proactive measures. Attending a preparatory school, he has gained valuable experience and knowledge that will undoubtedly serve him well in college. Barnes Jr. shared, "The school I attend right now definitely has prepared me for what I will face in college. I attend a school right now that is a preparatory school. I have taken classes that will have me ready for what awaits me. I also train with guys that are already at the next level, so that will help me too."

As Marcellus Barnes Jr. embarks on this new chapter in his football journey, the Virginia Tech community eagerly anticipates witnessing his exceptional talent on the field. With his determination, academic readiness, and the unwavering support of his new team, Barnes Jr. is poised for an extraordinary collegiate career and a prosperous future beyond the gridiron.
