2027 4-Star cornerback Dontè Wright Jr. is emerging as one of the premier defensive backs in the country. The talented standout from Long Beach Polytechnic High School in California has continued to gain national recognition thanks to his size, athleticism, and dedication to improving every aspect of his game.

Wright’s love for sports started early, influenced heavily by his family. “I start playing sports at the age of 6yrs old,” Wright said. “My Dad played and Mom was a cheerleader. My family continues to motivate me and I have younger siblings especially my little brother’s who also play sports who look up to me.” That strong family support system has helped shape his competitive mindset and leadership.

Training has also been a lifelong process for the rising defensive back. “My Dad been training all my life and I also work with my high school coaches,” Wright explained. “This off season I specifically focused on a year full focus on football to be more developed for college.” Wright noted that he has shifted much of his attention toward football preparation, adding, “I’m not running track as much and playing a little 7v7. My goal’s is just to perfect my craft and get ready for college.”

Despite his growing reputation as one of the nation’s top prospects, Wright stays grounded when it comes to rankings. “I don’t really pay attention to the ranking’s,” he said. “I use it a motivational purpose, I was once ranked low and now I feel I’m finally getting the recognition I deserve.” That chip-on-the-shoulder mentality continues to fuel his development on the field.

The recruiting process has been both exciting and challenging for the talented cornerback. Wright is currently committed to the Georgia Bulldogs football but continues to appreciate the attention from other powerhouse programs. “My recruiting process so far has been a blessing also stressful,” Wright shared. “I’m committed to Georgia but I also like Oregon, Miami and Michigan. Each school has shown they want me and all school’s are big time program’s I feel can get me to the NFL.”

Off the field, Wright says he’s just a typical teenager focused on enjoying life while staying on track for his goals. “I’m just a regular 17yr old kid, I love video games and hanging out with my friend’s,” he said. He also remains active in his community and family life, helping coach his younger brother’s football team and staying involved with church, adding, “Personal goals right now is make it to graduation and off to college. Church is a must.”
