2025 TE JT Taggart: Calvert Hall HS (MD)

In the world of high school football, one name has been making waves, and it's none other than 6'7", 225-pound TE sensation JT Taggart. This young athlete, who currently attends Calvert Hall High School in Maryland, is on a trajectory to greatness, and it's not just because of his imposing physical presence on the field.

When we asked JT about his journey into football, he replied, "I started playing football when I was 5 years old and I keep playing today because of my dad! He created a football family and he has been pushing to reach all of my achievements." With his father being Willie Taggart, the Running Backs coach for the Baltimore Ravens, it's no wonder that football runs deep in JT's blood.

But it's not just his family legacy that's turning heads. JT's recruitment story is equally impressive. He shared, "My recruitment all started at the end of 8th grade year with an offer from Eastern Kentucky University! I am extremely grateful for Coach Wells starting everything up for me and giving me an opportunity." And opportunities have continued to roll in, with 13 offers from prestigious institutions including the University of Miami, Vanderbilt, and the University of Pittsburgh, just to name a few.

When asked about his goals for the current football season, JT expressed his determination, saying, "My goal is to help my team get to the championship this year! I want to be able to show that I am able to play through the adversity of changing locations. Get more than enough film and show that I can be the top player anywhere."

Off the field, JT focuses on academics and building strong bonds with his teammates, emphasizing the importance of chemistry to elevate their game.

In terms of mentors who've played pivotal roles in his development, JT highlights the impact of Herve Coby, his former receivers coach in Florida, as well as Lyndon Bell, his former strength and conditioning coach at American Heritage. However, the most significant influence undoubtedly comes from his father, Willie Taggart, who has been instrumental in shaping JT's understanding of the game, from coverages to techniques.
