2024 4-Star ILB DAngelo Barber: Auburn Commit

In the world of high school football, one name has been making waves - D’Angelo Barber. Hailing from Pinson, Alabama, this 4-star Inside Linebacker (ILB) stands tall at 6’1" and weighs in at 225lbs. But there’s more to Barber than his impressive physique; his dedication to both the game and his studies is evident through his journey.

Barber’s journey in football began at an early age, around four years old, fueled by his competitive spirit. He shared, "What sparked my interest was really just my competitive spirit and the constant push from my mom to play every sport so that I could stay out of trouble." It was his mom's guidance and his own determination that set him on the path to success.

The mentors and coaches who have shaped Barber's development are numerous. From little league coaches to high school mentors, each has contributed to his growth as a player and a person. Barber expressed his gratitude for the likes of Coach Holt, Coach Roy, Coach Welch, Coach Drew Gilmer, Coach Gene Richardson, and Coach Helms. He also credited his trainer, Adrian Steele, for refining his skills since seventh grade. Barber stated, "They have all taught me the core values of life and helped me develop the constant drive and work ethic that helps me to push me to be better every single day."

The recruiting journey has been a thrilling one for Barber. He shared that the process started in his tenth grade year and gained momentum in January. Now, he stands committed to Auburn University, eager to build something special there. "I am grateful to have the opportunity to play there and build something special," he said.

But Barber isn't just about football. When he's not on the field, he enjoys fishing and spending time with his grandma. He shared, "I enjoy fishing on my off days because it just helps me to relax and just enjoy life while doing something competitive as well." His close bond with his grandma adds balance and warmth to his life off the field.

Influenced by his mother, stepfather, and uncle, Barber’s role models have instilled essential life lessons. He described them as individuals who have taught him respect, discipline, responsibility, and what it means to be a man. His goal to excel in sports is intertwined with his wish to repay his mother's hard work. He said, "I am truly grateful for all of them for the respective roles and the impact that they have all had on my life."

As D’Angelo Barber prepares to embark on his college journey at Auburn University, he carries with him not only the skills of a promising linebacker but also the values of a young man ready to make his mark on and off the field.
